Jeanne Scott Parent & Child Resource Centre - Regina’s Place
The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, in partnership with the Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, operates the Jeanne Scott Parent & Child Resource Centre, a school for young parents looking to earn their OSSD, while on-site child minding is provided for their babies. The program is located next door to Regina’s Place residence, and is an effort to help students break the cycle of poverty by bettering the students’ chances of employment and independence. Successful graduates have moved on to post-secondary education, found gainful employment, and housing, with the support of the Regina’s Place staff and classroom teacher.
Regina’s Place
Parents aged 21 and younger, who are confronted with enormous responsibilities as they raise their children, live in one of 15 fully furnished, subsidized transitional housing apartments. Residents of Regina’s Place receive on-site support and programming including life skills, goal setting and child development training designed to break barriers for multiple generations.
Our Goal
In keeping with the board’s mission of Believing, Achieving and Serving, the Jeanne Scott Parent and Child Resource Centre at Regina’s Place encourages the parents/students to honour their faith (in God and themselves), and achieve their education and a heathier mind/body/spirit, in an effort to serve as loving, responsible parents and productive members of society.
