National Forest Week is celebrated across Canada by many individuals and diverse organizations from coast to coast to coast. This year, NFW will take place from September 23-27, 2025.
During NFW, Canadians are invited to learn more about Canada’s forest heritage and to raise awareness about this valuable and renewable resource. Forests are fundamental to our economy, culture, traditions and history – and to our future. Communities, families and individuals depend on forests for their livelihood and way of life.
The theme for NFW 2023 is "Canada’s Forests: Supporting Biological Diversity.” Biological diversity in our forests is critical to our survival. From fresh air and water, food security, medicines, shelter to innovative products and technologies, forests and trees provide many cultural, societal, environmental, and economical benefits. In a changing climate, forest practitioners, professionals, researchers, and scientists are working to ensure forests are sustainably managed for generations to come.
