Please note that these are the office hours and not the hours for the program itself. Please see schedule section below for information on program hours.

Monday to Friday: All locations and offices - 8:30 am – 3:00 pm

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday nights 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Please note that you cannot sign up for ESL on Monday nights.

On Tuesday, October 17 all St. Charles schools will be closed after 11:30am. Evening classes will continue as scheduled.

On Tuesday, October 17, the St. Charles 45 Young Street location will be closed ALL DAY.

Our ESL night school is tailored to your busy schedule. Our program offers opportunities to improve your English for work, life in Canada, or further studies. We offer English language instruction classes at all levels from Literacy to CLB 6. Enjoy the best quality of instruction, experience the Canadian culture and make friends from all around the world.

Who May Apply

Our programs are for students who are 18 years-old or older, have immigrated to Canada and have one of the following status: Landed Immigrant; Permanent Resident; Refugee Claimant; Convention Refugee; Canadian Citizen.

Visitors to Canada who are 18 years of age or older are welcome.

No official start date yet.

If you are a new student, please call the YMCA Immigrant Settlement Service at 905-526-8452 to book a language assessment. Then ask to attend one of our St Charles classes nearest to your home.

When coming to St. Charles for the first time, bring your immigration documents, the assessment and $10 consumable fee.

$10 consumables fee

Visitor Fees

Full Time (6 hours per week): $18 per week
Part Time (3 hours per week): $9 per week

The fee will be $480.00 in cash. If the student is accepted into Canada, the fee will be applied to the visitor fees. If the student is not accepted, we will refund the $400.00 and the $80.00 will be kept back as administration fees
