Remote Learning Starts January 4th at St. Charles

Dear Students/Learners of St. Charles

On December 21st Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board informed parents, guardians, and students about the provincial shutdown and the Ministry’s decision to move to remote learning after the Christmas Break. Over the past few months, our instructional staff have been hard at work planning for such a move and we are well positioned to make the transition to remote learning on January 4th. Unless advised otherwise, elementary students can return to in-person learning on January 11th while secondary students will not return until January 25, 2021. For elementary and secondary students enrolled in our Virtual School, the new learning protocols do not affect their learning.

St. Charles Adult and Continuing Education will begin remote learning starting January 4 and unless advised otherwise return to in-person learning on January 25, 2021.

To prepare for the transition to remote learning, schools will be holding virtual staff meetings on the morning of Monday, January 4th. Classroom teachers and instructors will connect virtually, using the existing Learning Management System (LMS), used in your specific class, with students/parents later in the morning to provide a schedule and outline learning expectations. In the meantime, parents and guardians should make any necessary arrangements to ensure that their children will be properly supervised at home for the first week of January as before and after school care services will not be available as part of the government’s shutdown requirements.

St. Charles sites are closed; however we are responding to phone calls and emails, and conducting registration appointments virtually. If you are seeking information about our programs or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at:

Thank you
