Labour Update – OSSTF & OECTA Full Withdrawal of Services February 21, 2020

February 13, 2020

Dear St. Charles Learners,

On February 12, 2020, the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) and Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) served notice of their intention to engage in a one-day, province-wide, full withdrawal of services on Friday, February 21, 2020. This one-day, full withdrawal of services is in addition to previous sanctions initiated by OECTA and OSSTF.

OECTA represents approximately 2,300 permanent and occasional teachers in the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. Approximately 60 ESL/LINC and LBS instructors, assessors and child minders at our St. Charles Adult and Continuing Education Centres are represented by OSSTF.

In the interest of student safety, all Credit, ESL, LINC, LBS and child minding programs at all of our St. Charles Adult and Continuing Education Centres will be cancelled on Friday, February 21st.

Elementary International Language programs will run, as per usual.

The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board will continue to monitor this job action closely and will provide updates on the board and St. Charles websites. Please check the Labour Updates link at https://www.hwcdsb.ca/labourupdates2020/.

All programs and services will resume on Monday, February 24, 2020.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
