Therapeutic Artwork for Mental Health Week at St. Martin’s Manor

The students of St. Martin’s Manor created wonderful pieces of art in recognition of Mental Health Week. Art therapy is designed to show that it is not the end result that is important, but the journey and process in achieving it. With this in mind, individual mandalas were created making a window for exploring one’s inner self.

This process is meditative in itself and it proved to be very self-soothing and relaxing. With the backdrop of peaceful music and calming atmosphere, each mandala begins with one dot, and transcends as the completion of the mandalas promote peace and balance. Special thanks to Laurel Choat, Art Therapist and Registered Psycho-Therapist at Etobicoke Children’s Centre for her guidance in exploring art therapy in the classroom.
