The young women of St. Martin’s Manor held an anti-bullying campaign in recognition of “Pink Shirt Day” on February 27. Using the prayer “Footprints in the Sand” as their inspiration, they made promises to each other to help carry one another in times of suffering and hardship. Students also learned how to teach their children resiliency in times of trouble, and what they can do to raise confident children.
Students extended their campaign to include cyber-bullying, and showcased their responsibility as digital citizens. Students discussed how their digital footprint does not wash away like footprints in the sand, but can make an everlasting impression. Both staff of Catholic Family Services of Hamilton and students of St. Martin’s Manor School administered “Cards of Kudos” to one another to help promote kindness and positivity both face to face and on social media.
Special thanks to St. Charles Continuing Education Centre and WE Charity for helping this campaign get underway.
